Brand spotlight: PANGAIA

Launched in 2018, American loungewear brand Pangaia endeavours to create beautifully designed products made from the most innovative and sustainable materials. Their collection of brightly coloured hoodies, t-shirts and joggers have become a favourite among A-list celebrities including Justin Bieber, Bella Hadid and Pharrell Williams.

The Pangaia team (who refer to themselves as the Pangaia Collective) are made up of scientists, designers and creators. This combination of both design and scientific knowledge allow them to create collections that strike a rare balance in being sustainable, stylish and functional.

The brand have a long list of technology forward innovations to boast about including their signature seaweed fibre t-shirts made from 60% saltwater seaweed and 40% organic cotton. The t-shits are treated with peppermint oil which is a durable odour control, allowing garments to stay smelling fresher for longer and reducing the need for frequent washing.  

Another favourite, providing an alternative to synthetic and animal down is their patented Flower Down which is made from natural, dried wild flowers. The flowers create a natural habitat for animals including butterflies which contribute to their habitat restoration.

Signature to Pangaia is their use of bright, punchy colours which uses an environmentally friendly dyeing process with low water consumption.

Pangaia have proved that through materials science and innovation, the possibilities for sustainable, planet-friendly alternatives are limitless. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
